Picture the Poet Live

On Friday the 20th of March I was invited to perform as part of a group of local poets at Picture the Poet Live, an event organised by Apples and Snakes and the National Portrait Gallery to celebrate the exhibition at the Harris. We received the opportunity to perform alongside headliner Benjamin Zephaniah and support acts Mike Garry and Ali Gadema. Ali had been working with young people at the Foyer, one of whom performed, and he also read samples of their work. A musical interlude was provided by the Horsedreamers.

Our set took the audience on a journey through Preston’s history and was very much a group effort, which was facilitated by Terry Quinn. The performers were Terry, Yvonne Reddick, Dorothy Nelson, Nicolas Guy Williams, Phil Howard and myself. I’m delighted to see so much coverage of local poets on this video.
